Plinko

What is Plinko and how do you play?

Rows shape the payout spread. Plinko is a drop-and-drop game released in 2019 by BGaming where your chip falls through a grid of pegs from top to bottom, landing in one of several buckets below. Each bucket holds a different payout, from the mild outer edges to the volatile centre. You choose how many rows the grid displays, from 8 to 16, which changes both the number of buckets and the payouts. Your bet stays the same throughout; the grid and bucket payouts alone determine your win.

Pick your risk to match your play. Plinko suits you if you prefer simple, fast rounds without complex bonus hunts. It works well at stakes from £1 to £5, letting you control your pace and stack size. The game's three risk levels—Low, Normal and High—mean you can pick how volatile each session feels. Low Risk keeps centre payouts above half your stake even in unlucky rounds; High Risk swings harder both ways. Choose Normal if you want the middle ground.

Risk level controls the spread. Your choice of risk level shapes every round. Low Risk gives the gentlest spread, with edge payouts growing from 5.6x to 16x as rows increase, and centre buckets rarely dropping below 0.5x your stake. Normal Risk stretches the gap further, with edges reaching 110x at 16 rows and centre drops to 0.2x. High Risk pushes both extremes even harder. Risk locks in place once you press play and stays locked until that round ends.

How play unfolds

Your first spin through Plinko

You'll understand what happens each time you spin, from choosing your stake to collecting your payout.

Your stake and risk setting
You pick a stake from £1 up to £5 before each spin. Choose your risk level from Low, Normal or High, then select how many rows the bucket grid will have, anywhere from 8 to 16. The more rows you add, the wider the potential payout spread becomes.
Bucket position determines payout
Your chip lands in one of the buckets at the bottom of the grid after falling through the pegs. The bucket you land in multiplies your stake by the payout shown there. That multiplier is your win for the round.
Risk setting shapes your spread
The outcome depends on which risk setting you chose. Low Risk keeps centre buckets at or above half your stake even in worst cases, whilst Normal and High Risk spread payouts more widely, with centre buckets sometimes returning as little as 20% of your stake at higher row counts.
Base game, no bonus trigger
Plinko has no bonus round trigger in the base game. Your chip reaches a bucket, the payout displays, and the spin ends.
Setting your session boundary
You can set a session time limit or a loss limit before you start playing, to help you control how long or how much you spend. Once your limit is reached, your session pauses automatically.

Adjust your risk to shape the spread

Manual play versus automated spins. Select Auto under Bet Mode to reveal a Number of Bets field with adjusters, defaulting to 10. Pressing Play runs rounds automatically; Play changes to Stop showing remaining count. The series ends when your set count is reached, you click Stop, or your balance runs out.

How does Low Risk differ from the others? Low Risk is the mildest setting, available with 8 to 16 rows. The gentlest spread keeps edge multipliers at x5.6 for 8 rows, growing to x16 at 16 rows. Centre buckets stay at or above x0.5 across all row counts, so you rarely return less than half your stake even in the worst-case landing.

Volatility in Normal Risk. Normal Risk is the middle setting, also for 8 to 16 rows. Edge multiplier grows from x13 at 8 rows to x110 at 16 rows. Centre buckets shrink down to as low as x0.2 at 14 rows, meaning a centre landing at higher row counts returns only 20 percent of your stake.

Maximum variance when you want it. High Risk is the most extreme setting across 8 to 16 rows. The higher your chosen risk and the more rows you select, the larger the edge payout and the smaller your centre payout becomes. This setting creates the widest swing between buckets.

How 98.91% RTP translates to money on your stake

RTP is a long-run average calculated over a very large number of spins. The 98.91% figure applies only to the standard game. Your individual sessions will differ from this average.

RTP 98.91% · Standard game

Average return per £100 staked£98.91
Edge per £100 staked£1.09

What you cannot predict about Plinko

When does the bonus come? When a bonus round arrives depends entirely on random chance. No pattern or sequence tells you when to expect it, so plan your session without counting on a bonus appearing.

Will I win this time? Your session result is random whatever the RTP says. The return to player figure describes long-term outcomes across millions of spins, not what happens in your own play today.

Plan without the maximum win. The maximum win of x1 000 is a ceiling rarely reached. Expecting the top prize will disappoint you; most sessions end far below that figure.

Understand how Plinko plays, what volatility means here, and how your RTP applies

Can you play Plinko in demo mode without real money?+
Yes. The demo section on this page lets you spin Plinko without placing a real stake or winning real money. You can try each risk level and row count to see how the game feels before you decide to play for cash.
Why does Plinko have three different risk settings?+
Low Risk keeps payouts gentler across the spread, with center buckets rarely dropping below half your stake. Normal Risk and High Risk offer larger edge multipliers and smaller center payouts, meaning outcomes swing wider as you move toward the edges and higher row counts.
How long has Plinko been around compared to other Plinko games?+
Plinko launched in 2019. Other games in the Plinko series, such as Plinko 2 and Plinko 2 Halloween, arrived more recently in 2025 as separate games with their own features and maximum win figures.
When does the 98.91% RTP apply to your Plinko play?+
The 98.91% RTP is the standard game figure. It applies to every spin you make in the base game, across all three risk levels and all row counts from 8 to 16, whenever you play with real money stakes.

How to play Plinko safely and stay in control

Budget before the spin. Your budget is the most important decision you make before the first spin. Decide how much you are willing to spend on this session and set that as your limit. Treat it as money already spent.

Plinko stop-loss strategy. Plinko can feel like a winning streak or a losing one. Decide before you play when you will stop, whether you are ahead or behind. A plan to quit keeps the game enjoyable.

Before and after limits work. Use your account's deposit limits and loss limits to enforce boundaries that automatic tools maintain for you. These settings stay in place even when the moment feels different from before you started.

Pause and seek support. If Plinko stops being fun or you notice yourself playing longer than planned, take a break. GamCare, BeGambleAware and GAMSTOP offer support and self-exclusion options when you need them.
